David works at the Texas School for the Blind and one thing lead to another and I told him about Patrick and his business. Today I got an email from her that she saw a picture of Patrick and learned about his business ( in a Power Point from one of our guests, David, who stayed with us in 2015. And even though Patrick (or I) never participated in this camp, The Maryland School for the Blind was my wonderful place of employment for 16 years as well as Patrick’s school for years.Īnd then this afternoon, I got an email from an old friend, Toni, who used to work at the Maryland School for the Blind with me, but has been with the Mississippi Hearing-Vision Project at the University of Southern Mississippi for several years. in Wyoming, and she flies out every summer to the Maryland School for the Blind to help out with their camp promoting independence and life skills (Camp Abilities). What is the probability of that?! Then this morning, I learned that the same couple from Wyoming (Kerrie and Andy) have a daughter, Kelsie, who does adaptive P.E. We have guests from Wyoming staying with us at our Inn, who discovered that they happened to be kayaking in Maine a couple of days ago with neighbors of our other guests from Salt Lake City.

So, sadly, my blog has taken a back seat, but the chain of events that happened today caused me to pause and reflect and write this blog about connections. The last several weeks have been very busy as innkeepers with the “ leaf peepers”. They are God-incidences!” Or as my mom would say if she were still living, “Oh for heaven’s sake! It really is a small world!”

Or as my friend, Mary Ann would say: “There is no such thing as a coincidence. Well, I truly believe that, especially today. How many of you have heard of six degrees of separation? According to the gospel of Wikipedia, Six Degrees of Separation is the idea that all living things and everything else in the world are six or fewer steps away from each other so that a chain of “a friend of a friend” statements can be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps.
